St Andrews

It all started when…

St Andrews was built as a ‘chapel of ease’ to St Johns in 1930. The current building has been serving the church family since the eighties.

What’s on on a Sunday?

  • 10:30am service.  A relaxed, contemporary and liturgical service with children's groups provided. On the 4th Sunday of each month we share Holy Communion together.

  • 6pm. Usually a fairly simple service for those wanting to go a bit deeper.  We often pray in groups as part of the service, and we share Holy Communion on the 2nd Sunday of each month.

Here are a few practical questions you might have if you are visiting us for the first time:

CAN I PARK AT THE CHURCH?

We have plenty of parking, although it does get a little harder to park towards the 10.30 services. There are spaces near the door reserved for people with a disability.

WHich entrance do I use?

It’s easy to miss us on Britannia Road, we’re a few houses down from the right of Britannia Primary School. If you’ve passed the school on your right, you’ve gone too far!

The main entrance to St Andrews is at the front of the building as you get to the end of the drive.

HOW LONG ARE THE SERVICES?

Our 10:30 service generally finishes around noon, and afterwards we enjoy fellowship and refreshments together in the lounge. Our 6pm service lasts about an hour and a half.

WHAT PROVISION IS THERE FOR CHILDREN?

We have some provision for primary school age children. Occasionally we stay together for the whole service (look in the calendar for all age services) but on a regular Sunday we are all together for about 20 minutes and then there are children’s activities for 3-11 year olds, led by our children’s team, who all have DBS (safeguarding) checks. We have a back corridor where children under 3 can roam and play, where parents can still see and participate in the service.

ACCESSibility

All of St Andrews is on one level. There is an accessible toilet and baby changing room, and a hearing loop.

Holy COMMUNION

We usually share Holy Communion together on the morning of fourth Sunday of the month and in the evening on the second Sunday. We share alcoholic wine and wheaten bread for communion, but if you would prefer gluten free bread or non-alcoholic wine please tell the person serving you.
